首页 > Mounter > Republicans taking the advice of Democrats on how to succeed...
I am absolutely amazed by the idea that there are some Republicans, (I refer to them as RINO's (Republican in Name Only), actually taking the "advice" of the Democrat Party of how they can return to power. Now let me get this straight, there are actually Republicans that believe that the Democrats want them to become the majority party in Congress again?
Imagine if you will you are in a competition to win a million dollars and your opponent is giving you advice, do you actually believe that your opponent has your best interest at heart? Democrats are advising the Republicans to become more moderate and somehow that will return the Republicans to power. Really?
If the history of the Republican Party is any indication, this is a recipe for failure. The nomination and subsequent failure of Johnny McRino (John McCain) to become President was absolute proof that Conservatives will not blindly follow the Republicans. Look at our history, Ronald Reagan a strong Conservative won two landslides in a row and George HW Bush road those coat tails to a victory in 1988. Then George HW Bush failed to be the strong Conservative Reagan was and coupled with the spoiler Ross Perot lost in 1992 to Bill Clinton who was a moderate Democrat, (or claimed to be). Then the Republicans put forth Bob Dole who while a Statesman was well past his prime and ran a poor campaign. In 2000 along came George W. Bush who pulled off a squeaker by being a "Compassionate Conservative" which means big Government solutions for everything and a cradle to grave society along with lower taxes and a strong Military. George Bush was Conservative enough to get a little better numbers in 2004.
Fast forward to 2008 and we end up with Johnny McRino running against the media darling Barack Obama and we end up with a close election that would have been turned on a dime by a strong Conservative that would have came out with the message of small Government and no bailouts, but that's not what we got.
Both Obama and McRino supported the bailouts, favor big Government and both are wishy washy when it comes to dealing with terrorism, who was left for the Conservatives to vote for? I know many Conservatives that sat out the last election, some for the first time ever!
So my advice to the Republican Party is to give Johnny McRino and all the others who are nothing more than a Democrat in an elephant costume, (like Arlen Spector), their walking papers. We will be better off without the Arlen Spectors in the party. If I am wrong, we lose, but at least we will have our principles intact. I suspect however that America would welcome true Conservatives like they always have, with a landslide victory!
