Openet Preferred Choice for Telecom & Cable Policy Vendor
NICE, France, TM Forum Management World - May 7, 2009 - Openet, the
leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world's largest and most
innovative network service providers, has successfully concluded an OEM
agreement with Cisco® to distribute Openet's FusionWorksTM Policy Manager
product. Under the agreement, Cisco will market and sell FusionWorks Policy
Manager as a Cisco-branded offering to operators of high-speed wireless, fixed
line and cable networks worldwide alongside Cisco's Mobility Solutions-Cisco's
deep packet inspection products-which are used by operators to inspect and
control data on their networks.
Cisco and Openet have sold products together for several years to provide
market-leading solutions to communications service providers. This agreement
strengthens this long-standing relationship between the two companies and
creates a more tightly integrated offering for operators seeking to dynamically
apply business logic within their mobile, landline, cable and WiMax networks.
Dynamic policy control has emerged as the key to maximizing revenue as telecom
and cable providers deploy new, personalized services and as a result, must
tightly control the use of these services and network resources. Openet has a
long history as the leading provider of transactional solutions for this market,
and its Policy Manager product is an effective compliment to Cisco's Mobility
Solutions. Cisco chose Openet's product over alternatives due to the Company's
ongoing innovation, track record and stellar reputation, as well as the sheer
scalability and performance of the product.
"Service providers are dealing with congestion and fair use challenges and need
partners that work together, as Openet and Cisco are announcing. The
partnership-based approach to dynamic network control, such as the integration
of Openet's policy management software with Cisco's deep packet inspection
hardware, is essential," said Elisabeth Rainge, director, NGN operations at IDC.
"The complexities of subscriber demand, network performance and externally
driven mandates are driving a growing need for policy controls across all
networks."
The Cisco Mobility Solutions enable advanced processing of IP flows through
dynamic content examination, subscriber service access control and subscriber
account balance enforcement in a highly scalable, robust package. By tightly
integrating Openet's Transactional Intelligence capabilities with the Cisco deep
packet inspection products, Cisco is able to offer a more comprehensive suite of
very tightly integrated preconfigured solutions to operators, whereby they can
dynamically control access to, and allocation of, network resources to generate
new revenue sources and improve the customer experience.
"Cisco's Mobility Solutions are crucial to operators' success in generating new
revenue streams by controlling and monetizing the use of their networks," said
Niall Norton, CEO of Openet. "Deploying Openet's industry-leading policy
management product in conjunction with Cisco's proven deep packet inspection
products creates a tightly integrated solution for operators worldwide from the
industry leader in IP network infrastructure."
The Cisco-branded policy management product will be available in the coming
months. Inquiries for the product can be made directly to Openet. For more
